COVID Update – April 12, 2021

Gateway Community Health Centre is committed to supporting our community through the COVID-19 pandemic. We will update this page as we receive updates and information.

Latest Information on Vaccinations

If you are 60 and over, you do not need to pre-register. Visit the provincial site to register today.

As booking an appointment to receive a vaccine is being managed directly by the province, those who are unable to book online are advised to contact the Provincial Vaccine Booking Line at 1-888-999-6488. The Booking Line is available 8 a.m.- 8 p.m., Monday-Sunday. Individuals who do not have a photo ID health card will be required to book by phone.

Questions & Answers about COVID-19 Vaccines

Register to Receive Notification

You can register to receive notification when your age group becomes eligible to receive the vaccine by completing HPEPH’s notification form. When your age group becomes eligible for vaccination in our region, HPEPH will send you a notification by phone and email.

Please note, once you are notified that your age group is eligible, you will still be required to book an appointment, and appointments will be booked on a first booked-first confirmed basis.

If You Have Already Received Your First Dose

You will be contacted when it is time to book your second dose appointment. In response to national and provincial recommendations, HPEPH will be providing the second dose approximately 16 weeks after the first dose. Please DO NOT call HPEPH or your health care provider to book your second dose appointment. You will be contacted to book your second dose at the appropriate time.

More information is available on HPEPH’s website: hpePublicHealth.ca/covid-19-vaccines/.

Gateway Medical Appointments

Gateway remains open throughout the pandemic. Medical appointments are currently conducted via phone and secure video on clients’ computers at home, tablets or smartphones.

In-person medical appointments at the Centre are scheduled for urgent, essential services only (as determined by our providers). Appointments are staggered to reduce the risk of infection and spread of the virus.

If you have an in-person appointment, please bring your own mask, or one will be provided to you. You will be screened by phone and again at the door for COVID-19 symptoms and possible exposure to the virus through community contact and any travel. Gateway staff will be wearing personal protective equipment and adhering to strict disinfecting protocols before and after all appointments.

If you have any questions regarding your appointment, whether in-person, by phone or video, please call the Centre at 613-478-1211.

Gateway Dental Clinic

At this time, Gateway’s dental clinic continues to provide dental hygiene and dental treatment services for existing clients with urgent needs. Seniors 65+ who qualify for the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program are also able to receive urgent dental care services at Gateway through our partnership with the Hastings Prince Edward Public Health Unit.

We have implemented the guidelines set out by Public Health Ontario for Dental Care Settings and are following recommendations from the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario and the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.

Gateway Programs and Groups

Workshops, programs, and group activities have moved to virtual programming. See “What’s New” for the most up-to-date information on current programs and how to register.
