Clinical Pharmacy Support
Gateway Community Health Centres’s primary healthcare team includes a clinical pharmacist. Unlike retail pharmacists, who focus on dispensing medications, our clinical pharmacist works closely with the health team members to ensure our patients get the right medications at the right time. The clinical pharmacist:
- Advises nurse practitioners and doctors on the best medication to prescribe to patients
- Recommends adjustments to medication dosage as a patient’s needs change
- Ensures patient safety by monitoring prescriptions to avoid side effects or adverse interactions between medications
- Helps patients understand their medications and when and how to take them
Our Gateway's clinical pharmacist is part of our interdisciplinary health team and is dedicated to elevating client care by ensuring medication safety.
